Scott Thomas Outlar- Three Poems

Ostracize the Ostriches

Jihad
as a birthright
is a cancer
in the mainframe

Meltdown
in the desert
has made its way
across the sea

Political correctness
is not a remedy
while burying heads
in the sand

This virus
wields a sword
that’ll chop them off
regardless

One Night Pass

She bled crimson lust
with dragon breath
when the fire came
to wash my soul
to hell and back
with a one night pass
to fever dream city
as Satan moaned
at every touch of flesh
and hiss from fangs
that poured ecstatic venom

She laughed long and hard
with eyes lit up
as the sky wept down
in bullet point rain
straight to the vein
with mercury overload
singeing the chaos
of a symphony choir
in love with the siren
that remains a liar
but still gets the meal in the end

Soft Comes the Night with Its Weeping

Pastel nights
bleed lust
from the burning neon sky

A cool glow
from pulsing moon
ruptures the city

A tryst enticed
dances in waves
across the Boardwalk

Top floor lights
scream heavy
for street stomp revolution

Big wig office
just laughs
the threat downstream

Swirling along
in liquid smelted
intoxication

A river sighs
and knows
this game’s the last

One more drink
with cheers
to art’s salvation

Tools that wink
and weep
their love to dry
