Scott Thomas Outlar- A Poem

Camelot

If you want to kill a myth
in the modern age –
build a household brand name
up to the plank
of Godhood,
and then send
two sure bullets
to the head
of the patriarchs.
Add a cup of propaganda
on the local news
with twelve weeping widows
on their knees in a grassy knoll,
then play up the sorrow
until it spreads nationally
and feels like
all hope is lost.
Once upon a time
it was an honorable Kingdom.
Once upon a time
it was a whorish Empire.
Once upon a time
there were good deeds.
One upon a time
there was a mafia.
Once upon a time
there was a round table.
Once upon a time
there were splattered brains
in the back of a motorcade.

Scott Thomas Outlar survived both the fire and the flood...now he dances with the waves of the Tao River, waiting on the next flux of chaos to commence. His chapbook "A Black Wave Cometh" will be out in April through Dink Press. More of Scott's words can be found at 17numa.wordpress.com.
